For ICT integration to be successful in the schools,
the quality of ICT leadership is very important. Because principals often are not the experts
in technology use and the central figure in technology change, it would be wise
for them to delegate the role in technology implementation to expert
teachers. As a leader I think it would
be wise that I
- Develop a school ICT policy consisting of objectives, rationale, curriculum audit and goals to design and manage the integration of ICT in the school
- Learn the technology since only those leaders who are aware will be able to identify the needs of the staff.
- Involve others in the process. The leaders do not have all the answers and should therefore encourage teachers to share their technical and pedagogical knowledge
- Have a clear, shared vision in an effort to make wise decision in the integrating and managing ICT in the school
- Provide opportunities for training for staff to learn new knowledge and gain new skills.
- Collaborate with schools that have been successful in using ICT in teaching, Learning and management to exchange information for mutual support to deal with the continuous and ongoing change.
